Diastasis recti: why sit-ups will not fix it
Pregnancy and major weight change can separate the two halves of the abdominal wall. That gap is connective tissue, not muscle tone, so no amount of core training closes it — training the muscle either side can even make the bulge more obvious. Surgical repair is what brings the wall back together.
Where your scar will sit
Low, horizontal, and planned to hide under underwear or a swimsuit — you will be asked to bring the lowest garment you actually wear. A full tummy tuck also leaves a small scar around the navel. You will see real, unretouched scar photographs before you book.
Full, mini, or extended
A mini treats only below the navel and does not reposition it. A full addresses the whole abdomen with muscle repair. An extended continues onto the flanks after major weight loss. The exam decides which — not a price list.

“I would rather talk you out of an operation than do one you will regret. At your consult I draw on you, show you the 3D, and tell you plainly what I will not do.”
Book with Dr. Careaga“From the first consult I never felt like a number. Dr. Careaga drew on me, showed me the 3D, and told me what he would not do. That is why I booked.”
“Six months out and the shape still looks natural. My scar sits under my bikini line exactly where he said it would.”

Questions about tummy tuck in miami
How much does it hurt, and what will I be given for it?+
You are asleep under general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist. The muscle repair is what you feel — a strong tightness for the first three to five days, worse when standing up. You leave with a written pain plan, and long-acting local anesthetic is used to blunt the first 48 hours.
Will I have drains?+
Often, for about a week. They are uncomfortable rather than painful, and they reduce fluid collection. Whether you need them depends on the technique used for your plan.
Can I have children afterwards?+
Yes, and a pregnancy after a tummy tuck is safe. It may undo the muscle repair, which is why we ask about future plans before scheduling rather than after.
Will it get rid of my stretch marks?+
The ones on the skin that is removed, yes — typically those below the navel. Marks above it stay. That is a straightforward thing to show you on your own exam.
Is a tummy tuck a weight-loss procedure?+
No. It removes skin and repairs muscle; it does not treat obesity. If losing a significant amount of weight is the goal first, our medical weight-loss program is the right starting point and we will say so.
