Choosing the combination is the whole consultation
There is no standard mommy makeover. Some patients need muscle repair and no breast work; others the reverse. The plan is built from what actually changed for you, and the honest version usually includes something Dr. Careaga talks you out of.
The real limit is operating time, not preference
Longer combined operations carry more risk, and there is a point past which combining stops being safe. That ceiling is set by your surgeon and your medical history — and if your list exceeds it, the answer is staging, not squeezing.
Why combining is usually the better decision
One anesthesia, one recovery, one facility fee, one stretch of childcare to arrange. For most patients that is easier than two separate operations months apart.

“I would rather talk you out of an operation than do one you will regret. At your consult I draw on you, show you the 3D, and tell you plainly what I will not do.”
Book with Dr. Careaga“From the first consult I never felt like a number. Dr. Careaga drew on me, showed me the 3D, and told me what he would not do. That is why I booked.”
“Six months out and the shape still looks natural. My scar sits under my bikini line exactly where he said it would.”

Questions about a mommy makeover plan
How much does it hurt, and what will I be given for it?+
You are asleep under general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist. With muscle repair included, the first three to five days are the demanding part. You leave with a written pain plan and most patients step down to ordinary painkillers within the first week.
How long before I can lift my kids?+
Usually six weeks, and it is the restriction patients find hardest. Plan childcare before surgery, not after — this is the single most useful thing you can arrange.
Can everything be done in one operation?+
Often, but not always. Total operating time and your medical history set the limit. If your list is too long to be safe in one sitting, it gets staged rather than rushed.
Should I wait until I am done having children?+
Ideally yes, because pregnancy can undo muscle repair and change breast shape. It is a conversation, not a rule — some patients proceed knowing a revision may follow.
Will one recovery really be shorter than two?+
In total, yes. The combined recovery is longer than either procedure alone, but far shorter than two full recoveries months apart.
