What “deep plane” actually means
A traditional facelift tightens skin over a foundation that has not moved. A deep plane lift releases and repositions the deeper muscular layer itself, then redrapes the skin without tension. That is why it does not read as pulled, and why the result holds longer. It is a more demanding operation and not every surgeon performs it.
Why tension is what makes a facelift look done
The stretched, wind-blown look comes from pulling skin to do a job the deeper layer should be doing. Move the foundation and the skin can simply lie back down where it belongs.
A facelift does not treat skin quality
It repositions; it does not resurface. Sun damage, fine lines and pigment need a separate plan — and you should be told that before surgery, not after.

Book with a named surgeon, not a call center

“A face has to work on your bone structure, not on someone else's. If what you are asking for will not sit right on you, I will say so.”
Book with Dr. Ramos“Dr. Ramos spent forty minutes on my nose before mentioning surgery. He fixed my breathing and nobody can tell I had anything done.”
“I wanted to look rested, not tight. That is exactly what I got. My own sister asked if I had changed my hair.”

Questions about a deep plane facelift
How much does it hurt, and what will I be given for it?+
A facelift feels like tightness and pressure rather than sharp pain, mostly in the first few days. You are asleep under general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist and you leave with a written pain plan.
Am I too young or too old?+
Age is not the measure — tissue laxity is. We see patients in their forties who benefit and patients in their sixties who need something else first. The exam answers this, not a number.
How long does it last?+
A deep plane result generally holds longer than a skin-only lift because the foundation was moved. Ageing continues; most patients look meaningfully better than their untreated timeline for many years.
Where are the scars?+
In front of and behind the ear, following natural creases, and into the hairline. They are designed to be hidden by hair and shadow. You will see unretouched photographs before you book.
Can I combine it with eyelid surgery?+
Commonly, and it is usually the better decision — one anesthesia, one recovery. A facelift does not address the eyelids, so combining is often what makes the result look coherent.
